The World Economy Department of St. Petersburg State University would like to launch preparation of the second edition of the book “WTO: The Mechanism of States Interaction”, initially published in ST. Petersburg in 2008.
The main idea of the book is to show the mechanism of communication building of the WTO members and analysis of the 2008/2009 economic crises influence on the international trading system. The book should also show ways and modes that various countries groups use in order to defend their controversial interests.
We expect that the book would consist of four main blocks.
1. WTO as instrument of regulation of international trade relations. The block would analyze the history of GATT/WTO, core principles of international trade system, withdrawal from the WTO obligations, correlation between trade and development. It also would shows how the WTO co-operates with other international organizations.
2. Developed countries in the WTO system.
3. Developing countries in the WTO.
4. Post-Soviet countries in the modern international trading system.
We are inviting you to participate in the last three blocs, according to your expertise and scientific interests. We expect the following structure of your papers:
1. Main interests and sensitive issues for a given country (group of countries) within the WTO system.
2. General description of a given country (group of countries) and its/their role in the modern international trading system.
3. The influence of the crisis on country’s economy and its trade policy.
4. Prospects of the country's performance in the international trading system.
